Our Team
Shaleigh
Hi, I’m Shaleigh, the Wedding Coordinator at Avalen Farm Weddings. I’m a mum of two, a farmer and someone who absolutely loves a good wedding! Having spent all of my life surrounded by the countryside and farming, Avalen feels like a really natural fit for me. I love the relaxed, rustic feel of the venue and everything that makes a farm wedding so special. My role is to help couples through the wedding planning process and, when the big day arrives, make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible. I’m here to answer the questions, help with the little details and hopefully take away some of the stress, so you can concentrate on enjoying every minute of your day. I’m a very practical, down-to-earth person and I love getting to know each couple and making their wedding feel completely their own. No two weddings are the same, and that’s one of my favourite things about the job. When I’m not at Avalen, you’ll usually find me busy with family life at our dairy farm, or out competing with my homebred horse, Joe. So life is pretty full on, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! I love being part of the Avalen team and look forward to creating some very special wedding days along the way. 🤍
Ross
I’m Ross, and Avalen is part of our fifth-generation family farm. Farming has been part of our family for generations, long before we ever thought about turning the old dairy farm into a wedding venue. I grew up around the farm, and it’s always been a big part of our family life. The old barns were once used for the dairy herd and farm machinery, so seeing them now filled with couples, families and wedding celebrations is quite a change from what they were originally built for. In 2020, we decided to take on the rather big job of giving the old dairy buildings a new lease of life. A lot of the renovation was done ourselves, working with what we already had and trying to keep as much of the original character of the farm as possible. The old granite, walls and buildings all have a bit of history to them, so we wanted to keep that rather than starting from scratch. Although Avalen has changed, it’s still very much a working family farm. There’s still farming going on around the weddings, tractors coming and going and plenty of jobs to be done behind the scenes. For me, being the fifth generation is about looking after what’s been passed down to us and finding a way to give it a future. Turning the old dairy farm into Avalen has allowed us to do that, while keeping the farm and its character at the heart of everything we do. It’s still our family farm — we’ve just added a few weddings along the way.
Emma
I’m Ross’s wife and part of the Avalen team, working here part-time alongside my own work. I’m mainly involved behind the scenes, helping with our marketing and social media, and making sure Avalen’s style and personality come across in everything we do. I also help with our styling packages, putting together ideas and little details to make each stay feel welcoming, thoughtful and special. I’ve always loved anything creative, so I really enjoy being involved in the visual side of Avalen and helping bring our ideas to life. I’m definitely a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to the details, but I think it’s those small touches that make a place feel like Avalen.
