How long do we have sole use of Avalen?

You get exclusive use of the farm over the three days, from 12 noon the day before your wedding until 12 noon the day after. This includes the Carthouse with Roman Bath for two nights. There are three Queen bed settees in the Carthouse as well as the super king bed, so up to 8 of you are welcome to stay the night before the wedding. There is a private garden with bbq and garden furniture and a small kitchen in the Carthouse so the bridal party can ensure the ceremony room and dining hall is decorated and then relax during the evening before the big day. There is a hair and beauty station in the Carthouse. You are welcome to have your own hairdresser and beauty make-up artist , or we can help you “in house” at an extra charge.

Can we choose our own caterers?

You are welcome to choose any caterer who can use the kitchen facilities or you can have any street food provider come into the courtyard and be a part of the party. Dinner plates, side plates, bowls andcutlery for up to 150 people are provided along with water glasses and water carafe’s for the tables.

Who provides the drinks?

Avalen has a fully stocked and staffed bar. We can serve your guests welcome drinks, put wine on the table and provide bubbles for any toasts. Instead of a corkage charge, we offer you a special rate to help keep costs down.

What time is the bar open and when does the entertainment have to stop?

Both our bar licence and entertainment licence runs from 11 am until 11 pm. If you have booked our accommodation at www.torviewbarn.co.uk the first mini bus will collect people from Avalen at 11 pm and the second run will be at 11.30.

Do you have a sound system?

Yes we have a PA system throughout the courtyard buildings. You are welcome to have your own playlist which you can save on Spotify. We have facilities to play music during your ceremony and a microphone for the speeches..

Are all the tables and chairs provided?

We have 120 chairs for the ceremony room and trestle tables, benches and chairs for up to 120 in the Big Barn wedding breakfast room. If you are planning a smaller wedding we remove any “extra” furniture so the rooms look perfect, what ever size celebration you are planning.

What are the upfront costs?

We ask for a 10% deposit to secure your chosen date, a 30% further payment 6 months before your wedding , and the balance due a month before.

Are there any hidden costs?

You will have to book and pay for your registrar separately if you plan to hold your wedding at Avalen. Use of the ceremony room is included. If you wish to book our separate accommodation for up to 26 guests at www.torviewbarn.co.uk this is an extra charge. You will have to pay for your chosen caterers and entertainment if you choose to have any.
