How long do we have sole use of Avalen?

You get exclusive use of the farm over the three days, from 12 noon the day before your wedding until 12 noon the day after. This includes the Carthouse with a Roman Bath for the night before and the night of the wedding. 

Can we choose our own caterers?

Yes, we don’t have in house catering as we feel food is so personal to each individual we’d like for you to be able to choose whatever catering suits you best. Dinner plates, side plates, bowls and cutlery for up to 120 people are provided along with water glasses and water carafe’s for the tables.

Who provides the drinks?

Avalen has a fully stocked and staffed bar. We can serve your guests welcome drinks of you choosing, put wine on the table and provide bubbles for any toasts. We do also offer a corkage fee for any wine and Prosecco of £7 a bottle. 

What time is the bar open and when does the entertainment have to stop?

Both our bar licence and entertainment licence runs from 11 am until 11 pm. 

Do you have a sound system?

Yes we have a PA system throughout the courtyard buildings. You are welcome to have your own playlist which you can save on Spotify. We have facilities to play music during your ceremony and a microphone for the speeches.

Are all the tables and chairs provided?

We have 120 chairs for the ceremony room. Trestle tables, benches and chairs for up to 120 in the Big Barn wedding breakfast room. If you are planning a smaller wedding we remove any “extra” furniture so the rooms look perfect, what ever size celebration you are planning.

What are the upfront costs?

We ask for a 10% deposit to secure your chosen date, a 30% further payment 6 months before your wedding , and the remainder balance due a month before.

Are there any hidden costs?

You will have to book and pay for your registrar separately if you plan to hold your ceremony at Avalen. Use of the ceremony room is included. You will have to pay for your chosen suppliers on the day like catering, cake, photographer etc.

Do you have accommodation for guests? 

Yes we do. This isn’t on site it is only about a 10 minute drive away, on the wedding day we do run a mini bus to and from the venue so anyone staying at the accommodation won’t have to drive on the day. There are 3 properties in total all together having 10 bedrooms. This isn’t included in the cost of the venue as it is a separate business.
